Alongside in Yarmouth, NS, HMCS Moncton is a Canadian Kingston-class maritime coastal defence vessel. Commissioned in 1998, it is named after Moncton, New Brunswick.

Although a system such as Lazcom may very well exist in the future, this is the reality of communications with submerged submarines today. Naval Station Cutler, on the SE coast of Maine, consists of more than 25 towers over 800 feet in height. Strung between the towers, wire antennas send out extremely powerful signals consisting of only a few letters and numbers at a slow rate of transmission.
